Welcome to The Capitol Cinema, an independently owned, heritage-listed arthouse cinema on Dominion Road. We screen the finest new release arthouse titles, upmarket commercial films, and curated international film festivals in a warm, intimate theatre with vintage character.
Our licensed bar serves a selection of drinks and snacks to enjoy before or during your film. Alongside our regular screening schedule, we host unique listening sessions, preview nights, and private venue hire for community events, birthdays, and celebrations.

Our box office opens 15 minutes before the first screening of the day.
Free parking is available nearby on Rocklands Avenue and Wiremu Street. Paid parking is also available behind the cinema in the old warehouse carpark.
Yes, our licensed bar offers a selection of drinks and cinema snacks to take into your movie. Outside food and alcohol are strictly not permitted.
Standard adult tickets are $15.00, senior citizens (65+) and children are $12.00, and students are $13.00. Concession identification is required. Special festivals and events may have separate pricing.
Currently it is not possible to install wheelchair access into our cinema due to the building's heritage layout.
