Save Basement Theatre and we'll tell them you'd come back for rewards.About
Basement Theatre is where urgent and adventurous live performance is incubated and showcased in central Auckland. Since opening in 2008, we have hosted over 1,500 productions across our two performance spaces: the downstairs Theatre and the upstairs Studio.
Our programming spans theatre, dance, poetry, visual art, comedy, and music, with the vast majority created by local artists and vital voice communities. We also offer artist development programmes and affordable rehearsal facilities.
Our bar is tucked neatly down the hill by the car park, welcoming showgoers and neighbours alike. Every dollar spent at the bar goes straight back into supporting independent artists on our stages.
